Who’s that man in the air? I would be blasphemous and question is it Jesus, (the long hair made me do it?) but it’s the other J guy, J-Lie.  Skydiving wasn’t on my list of things to do but he may have convinced me after looking at these photos. Check the rest after the jump and be sure to listen and follow J-Lie. See you in a few days bro and Happy Birthday Sasha! I know your like “A blog shout-out isn’t a gift card.”

Murko Goes To College

One of the first punk rock bands I was ever introduced to was The Descendants. It was something about these angry young men, screaming about food, over loud abrasive noise, that kept me interested. I didn’t think this feeling could be replicated until my first day at Foundation as I wrote down Emeka Obi‘s lunch order from McDonalds (I would share it, but some of the more glamorous secrets of this fashion industry must be kept private).

But in all seriousness, i’ve always respected Emeka as a good dude, and the same goes for Scott Sasso, Creative Director for 10 Deep. Emeka shot this video of Scott discussing the beginnings of 10 Deep at New Design High in NYC as well as entrepreneurship and design.

And Rosie Perez was there. Win-win for all.

Now Did you really expect us NOT to post this? Congrats Big homie seriously. This is great to watch. Let me go blow my nose I feel like a parent lol. I remember when I was first moving into our condo in Atlanta the first day this was shooting and Deuce was telling us about the video. Man that seems like yesterday.

NYC Fridays have always felt different than Atlanta Fridays in my opinion. It usually rains on New York Fridays and while both cities share traffic jams New York even has traffic jams on the sidewalk. All bad. New York does gain a point though for the weekly party series presented by SoBe Lifewater and Epiphany Media (the guy with the hair works there). Free food and drinks from 1-8. What was that drink called? A Diddy? Ciroc and Lemonade? Yea I had that. Pictured above is Stylist (Wale, and N.E.R.D.) and Brand Architect Great Scott. Black is where it’s at

Yo, sometimes you gotta know when to laugh. Whether it be at yourself, others, or the situations you put yourself in, laughter makes everything a little easier to digest.

So in these troubling economic times, my homie (who just launched his own blog at On The Apple Box) Ezekial Phillips made a short film that tells the world how he REALLY feels about Soulja Boy.

Now, I know all the old school hip-hop heads might hate this guy, but I can’t be mad at him. He’s a young, black guy making all the right moves and securing himself and his family financially for the rest of his life at a young age. But I still won’t buy your album.

This morning I waketh (yes waketh) to a familiar sound - my phone ringing. Instead of answering it I continued to lie in bed and listen to my ringtone.

Ringtones have been popular in music way before Soulja Boy (Tell 'Em that) but hey I guess they were no where near as popular. What is my current ringtone?

The new single from brethren Jensen "Jay K" Kirk featuring Big Sean. You might be familiar with the track from the critically acclaimed UKNOWBIGSEAN mixtape but the full version of the single just leaked to the internet.

Click here for a download and make sure you go out and watch the duo perform the song live at Unlaced in Los Angeles. Click the jump for the flyer.

My good friend from the North J Mac just launched his new website over at Get Faded. If you’re ever across the border be sure to hit him up for an appointment. He’s the only guy I feel comfortable with cutting me besides Jigga at Arena ATL. Take a look at the trailer for his site below.

Last week Warner did a feature on a conversation that he did with out good friend Todd from Chit Life. Not only did he join us (and many linen clad drunks) in the Hamptons over the weekend but he also shared his thoughts on Michael Jackson with me. I don't know what's more entertaining watching him talk about the Remember The Times video or Warner blurting out anti Fox and CNN thoughts with no filter. This was only the beginning of the trip. And Mark is still getting monkey poo thrown at him for those green trunks. Check after the jump for the video.

GQ’s Man Of The Year

I don’t know if it’s obvious, but I really really love The Smiths. My favorite records by them are probably Louder Than Bombs or The Queen is Dead (it’s not an accident yellow flowers are in the City Snapshot’s press photos). This past Friday Wave and I went to Secondhand Rose Vinyl in the Village. It’s a nice store, and they probably have whatever you are looking for, usually originals, at a sometimes decent price. I picked up an original copy of Morrissey and Co’s major label debut.

Everyone accuses The Smiths of being so gloomy and morose, but it’s actually quite the opposite if you ask me. I can’t really think of two many lyricists as funny as Morrissey. Here’s my theory: you have to be able to laugh at yourself and appreciate irony to find The Smiths funny. It also helps if you read it outloud. So before we went out Friday night I tested this idea on Mark, who thought it was all bullshit. Let’s see how it plays out.

Check after the jump for the meaning behind the song Frankly Mr. Shankly from their 1986 album The Queen is Dead.

My good friend and Brownstone Project un-supporter (that’s a joke) Bydia once made the comment that he knew he had made it in life when he was on a yacht with Selma Hayek feeding him grapes, while he was draped in a terry cloth robe and brushing his teeth with a gold toothbrush. Well it seems as if he was in talks with either Prince Aakim or Nigo because his vision is now a reality. Bathing Ape has collaborated with Tepe to introduce their own line of toothbrushes. Yes, even in solid gold. Gone Getcha Some.
